Here are some great tips on how to get started juicing.

A less expensive model – also the one I started with.
Getting a juicer: There are a many different types of juicers out there and picking the right one can be confusing. Transform360 says juice EXTRACTORS are the way to go, not blenders or other juice machines. The juice extractor is built to do exactly what it is called…extract. We want to get as many nutrients as possible from the fresh produce we are buying so we can feel greater much quicker. You may be thinking, well how much is this gonna cost?? I started on a limited budget and made it work, so can you. I bought a $30 juice extractor from the local discount store and got started. Now, if you are willing to spend at least $80 on juicer, then you can get something a lot more user friendly. The top of the line juicers like the Omega will run over $1,000, but are truly amazing products. The $30-120 juicers will work just fine.

Another example of mid-range price point model.
Buying produce: Now essentially you want to be buying organic produce, because you don’t want to be ingesting the pesticides and chemicals that may very well be on other produce. Lets talk about what produce you should be buying.
1. Carrots – This is the miracle ingredient for juicing. We’ll go into that later in another post, but trust me carrots are your friend.
2. Apples (green or red) – I switched to green recently and its delicious!
3. *Celery – It’s really good to have one or two different green veggies in your juice cocktail for the nutrition we need to get from them.
4. Lemon – Think of lemon as the extra shot that will give your juice a huge advantage. The lemon helps your body absorb the nutrients better, it also helps hydrates your body, and most importantly helps alkaline your body which is vital to overcoming illness and disease.
*Celery is a good suggestion for greens because of its nutrition value and its water content. Cucumber is also high in water content and provides a lot of juice. Also think about adding other leafy greens to your cocktail like kale and parsley. Those are great immunity boosters!
Preparation for juicing: Make sure you wash all of your produce prior to juicing. Now, if you are on a budget sized juicer, which is awesome, then more than likely you are gonna have to spend a little more time with the preparation part. The pricer juicers have larger funnels so you can put a whole apple in at one time or larger carrots, etc. The less expensive juicers have smaller funnels, so you will need to spend a little more time in the prep chopping your produce so it can fit comfortably. Don’t fret though, I started like this and still found it to be relatively easy and quick once I got consistent.
Once your produce is washed and chopped then you are ready to go and star juicing! Have fun with this part!
Cleaning the juicer: Once the party is over and you are staring at a very pulp filled juicer, its time to bite the bullet and clean that sucker. My suggestion is to line the pulp container with a plastic grocery bag so that part of the machine doesn’t have to be washed. The remaining pulp can also go into that bag and the rest of the machine is ready to rinse. Get in the habit of rinsing all the components to your juice machine before you step away from the kitchen. Make sure you get all the remaining pulp off of your extractor blade so its at peak effectiveness everytime you juice.
Now I know that the cleaning and preparation can seem like a lot of choreography for someone who hasn’t juiced before, but trust me it is more than worth the effort. From start to finish I can do the whole process in well under 8 minutes! It is possible to make this a part of your daily life and not be a hassle, but rather something you look forward to!
